Education Support Pathway

International students wishing to study the Education Support Pathway must enter at Certificate III level.  At this level of study it is expected that you study for a minimum of 20 hours of study per week (15 hours face to face classroom based study, two days attendance from 9:30am to 4:30pm and 5 hours self-paced study) including, but not limited to homework, assessment tasks and individual research.

Entry Requirements:

There are no AQF Pre Requisites for this qualification.

AGB Training requires the applicant to successfully complete

  • Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment
  • Pre-Training Review
  • Enrolment Application Form

Students are required to have a minimum 5.5 International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score.  Student must be 18 years or over.

Upon successful completion of 092994B CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling, students will have gained the knowledge and skills required to apply for further studies in either CHC62015 Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management, or pathway to second year entry into Charles Sturt University’s undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Social Work, via online studies or in Australia on campus at Wagga Wagga or Port Macquarie, NSW. This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of education settings, including public and independent schools and community education settings, who provide assistance and support to teachers and students under broad-based supervision.

Work placement: To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 100 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

Possible occupation titles relating to this qualification: Education Support Worker

Course Duration 24 weeks

Duration inclusive of holidays: 37 Weeks

Work Placement Hours: 100 hours throughout course duration

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of education settings, including public and independent schools and community education settings, who provide assistance and support to teachers and students under broad-based supervision. Some job roles may require tasks to be performed with a moderate level of autonomy and/or the provision of supervision/leadership to other staff/volunteers.

Work placement: To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 100 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

This qualification reflects the role of counsellors, who work with clients on personal and psychological issues using established counselling modalities. They use communication, micro-counselling and interviewing skills and draw on varied counselling therapies to assist clients. At this level, the counsellor will be working in defined and supported counselling roles in established agencies rather than in independent practice.
