MEDIA RELEASE

 2 August 2019

AGB Group Pty Ltd (t/as AGB Training) (“AGB”)
Information regarding ASQA’s decision to cancel AGB’s registration

Introduction

AGB’s Chief Executive Officer, Robert Dejanovic wishes to clarify a number of matters pertaining to AGB and its registration as an accredited Registered Training Organisation (“RTO“).

AGB’s status as an RTO remains current and AGB is entitled to continue delivering the courses on its scope of registration.

AGB is and remains committed to its staff, trainers, students and their welfare.

What happened and what has AGB implemented?

As you may be aware, on 15 July 2019, ASQA informed AGB of its decisions to cancel its registration as an RTO with effect from 19 August 2019.

At all times, AGB’s focus remains to ensure that its students, trainers and staff are not adversely affected and that the delivery of the courses may continue without inconvenience or disruption and enable the students to achieve their qualifications.

AGB has instructed its lawyers to make application to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (“AAT“) for a review and stay of ASQA’s decisions as soon as practicable (and in any event by 12 August 2019).  On the basis that the AAT grants a stay of ASQA’s decisions, AGB’s registration as an RTO will continue until the final hearing and determination of AGB’s review application.  AGB anticipates that its stay applications will be heard and determined by the AAT by 18 August 2019.

AGB remains determined to satisfactorily resolve the current situation as soon as possible and provide the best outcome for its students.  To that end, AGB has commenced undertaking a review of its systems and processes and a response to ASQA’s requirements.  AGB is confident that it will be able to demonstrate compliance with the relevant regulatory framework.  From a staff/trainer perspective, it’s important for all to appreciate that AGB continues to plan for 2020 and beyond and looks forward to the future.

AGB will provide a further update once there has been hearing of the Stay applications by the AAT.

AGB remains determined to satisfactorily resolve the current situation as soon as possible and provide the best outcome for all.

Information for current AGB students and staff

AGB understands its current students may have concerns about their courses and future enrolment.

Updated information for students will be distributed as it becomes available.  In the meantime, AGB invites any staff or students who may have concerns to direct questions to AGB’s head office via email at: asqa@agb.edu.au and will respond as soon as possible.
