Community Services Qualifications to help the homeless

Australia’s current homelessness situation is rife. According to Homelessness Australia, there are over 105,000 people experiencing homelessness in Australia. 17% of these people are children under the age of 12. The most common cause of homelessness is domestic violence, followed by financial hardship. Homelessness can be the start of a downward spiral for many people, as they become vulnerable to physical and mental health issues and substance abuse.

Youth Projects, situated in Melbourne’s iconic Hosier Lane, is a facility to help a range of people who find themselves facing homelessness. Youth Projects Chair, Melanie Raymond told ABC News “what we are seeing now is people who a poorer, hungrier and more desperate.” Any wonder, with Victoria’s homeless population increasing by 20.7% since 2006.

So what can you do?
